520 3 |a The main goal of this research is to highlight the importance of international cooperation and climate diplomacy in disaster risk reduction and to answer following research questions: 1. How disaster risk management policy and international cooperation can reduce the effect of climate changes and natural hazards? 2. Why public awareness and education are so important for disaster risk reduction? 3. What lessons can we make from Disaster Risk Reduction Strategies and Risk Management Practices in different areas of the world? 4. What could be new generation disaster data infrastructure for Disaster Risk Reduction? How can we use smart devices and applications for disaster response? For reaching research objectives the analyze of the topic is made based on such structure: 1) Chapter 1 will describe the legislation that regulates disaster risk reduction, outlining the most important documents, such as Yokohama Strategy and Plan for Action, Hyogo Declaration and Hyogo Framework for Action and Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction; 2) Chapter 2 will give the overview of actions taken by international community in the field of DRR, analyzing specifically the role of social media and education; 3) Chapter 3 will provide comparison of the regional practices of disaster risk management based on different types of disasters; 4) Chapter 4 will enlighten recent scientific progress in resilience to emergencies and emphasizes the importance of technology for DRR.
