520 3 |a This research investigated a compliance problem at an international wholesaler company; Mid Ocean Brands. The profile of the company is the distribution of printed promotional gifts. Currently the firm faced some difficulties meeting product compliance standards. The paper concluded that this situation stems from problems occurred by the information management and supply chain management within the organization. The required product information turned out to be hard to obtain from the suppliers and there was no general practice for the further process of it. Therefore, after analyzing the contemporary literature as well as the current situation at Mid Ocean Brands, a solution was proposed to the subject company. Considering the information management lifecycle models of different experts, clear objectives should be formulated about what kind of information should be obtained. Besides, a uniform layout along with a system should be designed for administering and managing the established product information. Hence, the solution proposed by the graduation thesis is to implement a product information management plan. This information management plan should be accompanied by a supplier strategy. It has to be noted as well that the above mentioned two process improvements have to be synchronized. First of all a template will be designed, which will be a bill of materials layout. This format will be universal, it is going to be used for every products. When the sheet is designed, the needed information will be obtained by the merchandisers from the suppliers by applying the supplier strategy. The main feature of this strategy is to treat suppliers as partners and improve cooperation by establishing trust between the parties and concentrating on long term benefits. When the information is collected and sheets are completed, the bills will be administered electronically in Excel, and in the SAP system. The aim of this proposal is to solve the existing problems by an efficient bill of materials management and eventually to improve the product compliance through this information management plan. The proposed solution was tested by interviews carried out with the upper management and questionnaires completed by the merchandisers of the company. From the results and analysis of findings it can be concluded that the proposed solution demonstrates efficient, proper and realizable suggestions for improving compliance at Mid Ocean Brands.
