520 | 3 | |a Abstract The internet penetration transformed the world economy, most industries began digitalization roughly in the past 20 years. But there are some segments which avoided the rapid transformation, among others for example the financial sector. Appearing of FinTech companies with their high-tech business solution disrupted the banking sector. These firms generally offer faster, cheaper, visible, cross-border user friendly services. The high-tech startups are so-called as born globals which means the internationalization characteristic is inherently is in the Firm’s DNA. The purpose of this paper is to identify those factors which significantly effects the global expansion process of the firms and to determine the most challenging areas for them. Based on empirical findings the triggers of expansion, the product characteristic, the firm’s network and investment which contribute the successful internationalization. Furthermore the importance of a positive, supportive, developed ecosystem is also necessary for rapid growth. One of the advantage of these hubs is, there are more similar FinTech companies close to each other, where they can learn and share experiences, furthermore the environment of he related locations can also develop faster. The most relevant difference between FinTech companies and other digital born globals is in the ‘challenges’. The strict regulations may determiend the frame of the internationalization opportunities. Additional aggravating factor is the lack of experience of the regulators. Key words: born global companies, internationalization, internationalization process, financial technologies, international new venture | |
