520 3 |a This research was conducted to give an overall view of the advantages, disadvantages and overall usefulness of virtual reality technology as perceived by professionals with experience on the topic. Moreover, to describe the current state of the technology to prove that destination marketing tactics involving VR could help marketers to provide a preview of the experience they are promoting. Additionally, to shed light on the following objectives. In other words, it aims to inspect the current popularity of the utilization of virtual reality for tourism-related marketing purposes. Furthermore, it is to prove that the possible implementation of Virtual-Reality Head-Mounted Displays (HMDs) into popularizing tourism-related services could prove advantageous over more traditional methods such as handouts and sales pitches by street promoters. To gain knowledge on the topic data was collected through primary and secondary research. For the latter two semi-structured interviews were conducted to obtain qualitative data with professionals who work within a tourism-related business and employ Virtual Reality technology for marketing purposes
