In addition, the sustainable development and the national performance on economic and social indicators that Laos has progressed are introduced in this research study and the ambitious goals that the Government of Laos has placed a high value on graduation from Least Developed Country 2024. The key finding of this research focuses on the challenges and obstacles which hinder Lao microfinance practices to meet the increasing demand of the target groups (poor and low-income population) in providing access to financial sources. Introducing the foreign and international aids in terms of project implementation, for instance, the cooperation with Luxembourg to establish the Village Credit Schemes with a large amount of funded budget, there is existing potential that the project will improve the community livelihoods in local regions. The study has highlighted the importance of Fintech, where nowadays, the Government of Laos has encouraged financial institutions to invest. Because Laos is an emerging country, Fintech will help to boost account penetration and economic growth. Despite the global crisis of COVID-19, Laos can become a Middle-Income Country in the future.
