Many people in the world do not care about their savings until they are adults, and it is too late to change. In these decades it is essential to save up for the later years; for retirement, cars, house or new digital gadgets.    The goal of the study is to describe the financial savings of the population in the 21st century. The study shows the situation now, and what are the possibilities for the people, to develop their lifestyle and to create financial stability for themselves. The study would represent the consumer behaviour of humanity in the 21st century. The study would like to demonstrate the situation of the financial planning before and after the COVID19 crisis. The study has two main focus groups, Hungary and the European Union. The thesis represents a scenario about the saving behaviour of the Hungarian and European population.  The first part of the thesis would show the saving behaviour of the population before and during the COVID19, including the economic crisis in 2007-2009. The main focus group is the European Union. The thesis focuses on the change in the saving behaviour of society before and after the great economic crises. The essay represents the transformation of the attitude towards financial planning. The second part of the study would describe the Hungarian situation. The essay shows the behaviour of the Hungarian population and their opportunities in Hungary as well. The essay describes the saving behaviour in the 21st century and how did the economic crises transform the lifestyle of the population.  In order to truly understand the motives of the saving habits of the Hungarians, a survey was created. The aim of the questionnaire is to examine the behaviour of the people in Hungary. The survey helps to demonstrate the saving habits, the most attractive saving options and the existence of financial self-care in the life of Hungarian society. The poll displays the situation after the isolation and the quarantine and highlights the attitude about the pandemic and the regulations.  With the help of the survey and secondary resources like books, working papers; the study aims to answer the research question, which is: “Can an external effect change the saving behaviour of the society?” The question will be proven by the sources and demonstrate that a modification in the economic system can completely change the attitude of the individual.  To summarize, the main aim of the study is to determine the saving habits of the population in the 21st century. The questionnaire contributes to answer the research question and showing how the economic crises transformed the behaviour of the population.
