Kivonat:In modern times our planet is facing serious environmental problems, many countries make global cooperation to improve environmental conservation performance. While the tourism industry is paying attention to sustainability in the world, Ecotourism would be one way to be the tourism industry more sustainable, however, ecotourism has many unclear parts which have not been confirmed such as definitions, current ecotourism situations. The aim of this paper is to research successful ecotourism case studies in Hungary and Japan and contribute to further development by comparative analyzing the characteristics of each country. In this paper, I analyze articles on the trends, case studies, characteristics, and current situations. Also, find new suggestions about definitions and ideas about own ecotourism through a qualitative approach by interviews. Through this comparative research and interviews, Hungarian ecotourism mainly focused on National parks management, and Japanese ecotourism focus on their eco-infrastructure and refocused on heritages, and It could be expected that Japanese national parks might need the principle improvement, such as from Hungarian National park management. And still, both countries need to concentrate on their definitions of ecotourism and its authenticity. Based on the results of this interview and research, It might be possible to discover where in ecotourism they have problems and contribute to the future development of ecotourism in Hungary and Japan, also leading to more environmental focused travel of tourists and the well-being of the local people.
