This paper examines the credit accessibility of organic farmers in Laos through microfinance institutions and the income level of the borrowers after receiving loans. This paper further studies the perception of accessing credits through microfinance institutions of the non-borrowers. A sample size of 20 organic farmers were given a survey, while 7 key informants were interviewed to obtain in-depth information. Descriptive Statistic, Content Analysis and Case Study approaches were used for the data analysis. This study finds out that only a small number of organic farmers access credits through microfinance institutions, but the majority of them access credits through banks or village funds. The results also show that the income level of the borrowers increases after receiving the loans. The non-borrowers’ perceive the credit accessibility through microfinance institution to have complicated requirements and high interest rates. The policy makers should promote the credit accessibility through microfinance institutions by increasing the loan ceiling, decreasing the interest rates limit, providing financial literacy training, and improving the infrastructure of the organic production to fully organic farmers and organic agriculture sector in Laos.
