The finance sector is no exception, the introduction of technological solutions created what is now called Fintech or financial technologies. It has changed the financial environment, regulation system, customer experience, and expectations. The development of fintech is challenging the existing financial services sector, with thousands of new companies and start-ups each day generating innovative high-tech solutions and models. This research aims to evaluate the level of awareness and adoption of fintech in Tunisia. The thesis will focus on exploring how much Tunisians are involved in fintech activities as well as developing a model which studies the criteria that influence Tunisians into choosing their financial providers and identifying possible challenges or obstacles facing the development of fintech in the region. The study starts with analyzing existing research, then uses a quantitative study using a questionnaire. The online questionnaire helped to investigate the research goals, it revealed that many Tunisians are aware of fintech services and are using fintech products. Furthermore, the highest awareness levels are in millennials and generation Z, while the highest adoption rate is among generation X and Y. Additionally, using descriptive statistics, the research showed that fintech is chosen mainly because of convenience, and lower fees while banks are chosen generally because of trust and safety. The challenges were identified using a regression analysis which mainly is trust issues in fintech services and the excessive use of cash in the economy.
