| 520 | 3 | |a BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA – WHY IS STILL STRUGGLING TO BE A MEMBER OF EU This paper aims to discuss the country status of former Yugoslavia - Bosnia and Herzegovina, with reference to the influence of two main neighbouring countries: Republic Serbia and Republic Croatia, who are also members of former Yugoslavia. After the war and the dissolution of former Yugoslavia, only two countries (Republic Croatia and Slovenia) are members of European Union while others have been struggling to be (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Republic Serbia and North Macedonia). Bosnia and Herzegovina experienced very hard and complex ethnic conflicts during the ’90 with elements of aggression from neighbouring countries, so it was the fiercest conflict on the ground of former Yugoslavia. Therefore, we will present a part of history and functioning of Bosnia and Herzegovina through two Yugoslavia’s and as the independent state Bosnia and Herzegovina. By that, we will try to find reasons why Bosnia and Herzegovina is still not a member of European Union, conducting research on relevant historical sites as well as sites on the functioning of the state. | |
