Kivonat: | This paper attempts to analyze the understanding and perception of corruption by people in Kyrgyzstan, more specifically, the corruption processes happening in elections. For this aim, the literature and primary research were conducted, first providing the general concept of corruption and the background of how elections occur, and the latter reviewing and analyzing the data received through COBRA Questionnaire and interviews with people who sold their votes in elections. The main observations and problems found include the established mindset of the population perceiving corruption as a common occurrence, a significant lack of education, as well as, deeply rooted corrupt system in the government and its institutions. The solution is to fight corruption systematically, using complex and comprehensive methods in all spheres of society, which are but not limited to, increasing transparency and implementing digitalization in the state bodies, developing economical stability, enhancing fair political competition, increasing the level of education and changing people’s mindset to oppose corruption. |
