Kivonat:The term “regenerative tourism”has become popular worldwide inrecent years. It refers to the next step of “sustainable tourism” - meaningthat besides sustaining and minimising the adverse impact on culture, societyand economy, stakeholders should create more net positive value by practicalactions (Heslinga, 2022). However, this field remains an uncharted territoryin Vietnam. Among the tourist attractions in Vietnam, Sapa is a wonderfuldestination consisting of natural mountainous resources and diverse culturalresources that not only attracts domestic tourists but also piques thecuriosity among international visitors. However, it has been damagedsignificantly due to the lack of responsibility from stakeholders, resultingin environmental pollution, traffic congestion, erosion of local culture, low levels of awareness and education, misleading imageof Sapa, street vendor harassing tourists, children leaving school to sell products onthe street, overreliance on tourism in the event of pandemic, overusingtourism for temporary benefits, and unfairness for disadvantaged local people. Therefore, this research is conductedwith a view to providing knowledge on “ regenerative tourism”, especially itsbenefits to both locals and visitors; contributing more insights into thecurrent tourism situation of Sapa; exploring the consciousness of stakeholders(host, tourists, authorities) in terms of regenerative tourism towards theenvironment, culture and destination at large (from taking personalresponsibility for their actions); pointing out the challenges that impede thedevelopment of regenerative tourism in Sapa; and proposing recommendation forthe destination.
