Kivonat:The increasing complexity of financialproducts in the evolving financial market means that individuals need to takecharge of their own financial well-being, making financial literacy morecrucial than ever. In this thesis, I aim to define financial culture, presentits components, and examine the theoretical background of the topic. My focuswas to prove that there is a positive relationship between financial literacyand education, and households with more financial knowledge tend to have highersavings. The theoretical background reveals that financial literacy is highlyintricate, encompassing various components, such as financial attitudes, behavior, knowledge, and skills. The practical part involves a questionnaire onhow to evaluate financial literacy. The study focuses on financial planning, savings, loans, and investment. Hungarian savings trends indicate that savingsand financial investments increase proportionally with income levels. However, loan regulations were introduced in Hungary after the 2008-2009 crisis, leadingto stricter access to credit, especially foreign currency loans. The studyhighlights the importance of financial literacy in effective financial planningand management, saving, and avoiding debt and financial troubles to buildwealth over time.
