Kivonat:Almost all papers on field warehousing in the USA were published in a relatively close time range after the great economic depression of 1929. From these works it turns out that this was the time when field warehousing came to its peak and boomed in the USA. Simularly, in Hungary we can observe the emergence of this device from publications taking accounts of the era after the political change of the 90’s. At first sight, there appears to be no connection between the two historical events. One was a massive economic recession caused by the stock market crash, and the other was a turning point in a nation’s fate in the form of the relay of a disfunctional and forceful ideo-political system. However, the result in both instances was an environment in which a new device of public warehousing could thrive and provide. Field warehousing has played a vast economic role in both historical instances, and that is due to its functionality in the emerging market situation that these events provided. Gaining wide popularity among small and medium-sized enterprises, especially in the agricultural field, it has historically revived industries and kept alive complete economies at the verge of collapsing. On the contrary it also gave way to criminal activity of massive scales.
