Abstract:The main objective of my thesis is to dissect each and every part of the Mediterranean diet, from its beginnings reaching back to the birth of human culture, through the many influences and changes it had. A diet with a history spanning centuries, during which each country evolved into its own personal gastronomy, while still staying true to what we regard as the Mediterranean way of eating. Through my own experiences, the feeling and opinions of tourists’ who have visited the region, an analysis on the diet’s social media presence and an interview with a hospitality professional, I seek to understand how it influences our modern society and the future potential it has on the betterment of our well-being.
