Description
Abstract:The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), proposed by President Xi in 2013, is a collective term for the two strategic concepts, the "Silk Road Economic Belt" and "21st Century Maritime Silk Road". The countries in the CEE region have strong economic complementarities with China, and under the impetus of the "16/17+1" mechanism, trade exchanges between China and CEE countries have become more and more frequent, and have achieved relatively good results.Though there are great opportunities, there are also challenges to face, such as the reaction to the Belt and Road Initiative and political and economic opposition in CEE countries. Therefore, this paper will analyze the opportunities and challenges for China in CEE to study the future development trend of China in the region. The paper's structure includes an Introduction outlining the research problem and methodology. The Development Overview of the BRI in CEE traces its history and ties with CEE countries. Participation and Extent of CEE Countries in the BRI explores the evolution of cooperation and China's infrastructure impact. The Overland Silk Road delves into the China Railway Express's influence on trade flows. The BRI from the European perspective examines CEE's view and cooperation, with case studies. Implementation of the BRI from the Chinese perspective, scrutinizes soft power and investment data. Finally, the Conclusion summarizes findings and proposes solutions.
