Kivonat:This paper studies the relationship between financial technology (FinTech) and financial inclusion, specifically the case of digital payment systems in India and Vietnam. The study examines how platforms like India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and Vietnam’s MoMo and VNPay have widened financial access for all, based on a handful of case studies. The study assesses the factors behind the rapid growth of digital payments through distinctive features in the regulations, partnerships in the private sector, and socio-economic aspects in each country. We found opportunities and challenges in scaling FinTech solutions as well as issues related to digital literacy, cybersecurity and infrastructure. The paper concludes with policy implications regarding data privacy, digital literacy, and rural connectivity development. This report synthesizes global findings from these case studies, offering lessons for other regions striving to leverage digital payments to increase financial inclusion. We recommend that future studies examine the role of emerging technologies, the integration of cross-border payments and offline payment solutions.
