Kivonat:The thesis examines the significance and effectiveness of environmental taxes within the international economy, focusing on public acceptance. Through a literature review and the analysis of primary data collected via a survey, the research explores how environmental taxes can serve both as instruments for reducing environmentally harmful behavior and as tools for generating public revenue to fund green investments. The study highlights that while environmental taxes are increasingly adopted by international agreements such as the Paris Agreement, their success largely depends on public awareness, perceived fairness, and transparency in revenue allocation. Survey results indicate that respondents with higher awareness and education levels are more likely to support environmental taxes, especially when revenues are used for environmental projects. The findings suggest that effective communication, targeted education campaigns, and transparent use of tax revenues are essential for increasing public acceptance and maximizing the positive environmental and economic impacts of these taxes.
