Description
Abstract:The coronavirus has caused a public health emergency and enormous economic damage worldwide since it was first detected in China at the end of 2019. Many countries have tried to flatten the epidemic curve through social distancing and quarantine measures. Mongolia was one of the first countries to take precautionary measures, closing borders, shutting down schools and businesses, limiting public gatherings and banning entry from abroad, allowing the country to self-isolate and avoid a more serious outbreak. The economical result of the pandemic was first revealed in Mongolia after the quarantine measures. The aim of the research is to investigate economic impact of coronavirus pandemic in Mongolia and its commodity-exporting sector. This is based on measures taken by Mongolian government against pandemic and statistics of macroeconomic indicators. This paper used both qualitative and quantitative methods based on secondary data from market articles, reports and information, integrated with a largely objective philosophy of analysis and interpretation.
