Abstract:Thesis provides a comparative study of two key global crises: the financial crisis of 2008-2009 and the COVID-19-induced crisis of 2020. Using a multifaceted approach, the study the underlying dynamics of the two crises, their causes and their impact on the international economic and financial landscape. The study delves into the salient features of the crises and assesses their impact on the global economic system, financial markets and the policy responses adopted by governments and international institutions. By analysing the United States as a national subject and examining the changes in its GDP, unemployment and inflation rates during the two major events, the interconnections between the crises are revealed, highlighting the similarities and differences between them. In addition, the thesis explores the impact of these crises on global co-operation. Through this comparative analysis, the paper aims to provide valuable insights and recommendations for policymakers, financial institutions, and businesses to cope with future uncertainties in the global economy.
