Kivonat:This paper examines the institutional challenges and opportunities facing Vietnam’s coffee exports to Germany during the 2020–2024 period. While the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) offers substantial advantages such as tariff reductions and improved market access, Vietnamese exporters must navigate a complex regulatory environment. Germany, a high-value and quality-conscious market, imposes stringent standards on food safety, sustainability, and traceability. To fully capitalize on these opportunities, Vietnamese businesses are compelled to adopt modern production technologies, enhance post-harvest processing, and implement digital traceability systems, including blockchain and IoT. Moreover, compliance with new environmental regulations, such as the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), necessitates a shift toward sustainable practices like organic farming and Fairtrade certification. These demands present significant obstacles, particularly for small-scale and traditional farmers, who may lack the resources or time for swift adaptation. Nonetheless, overcoming these challenges will not only unlock Germany’s lucrative coffee market but also position Vietnam as a competitive, sustainable exporter in the global coffee industry.
